The Area Health Education Center for Western Washington is a public health center focused on building training and educational networks to improve equity in access to health workforce education and strengthen healthcare in rural and underserved communities.
The purpose of the AHEC Program is to develop and enhance education and training networks within communities, academic institutions, and community-based organizations. In turn, networks seek to increase diversity among health professionals, broaden the distribution of the health workforce, enhance healthcare quality, and improve healthcare delivery to rural and underserved areas and populations.
